Advocacy

The Landmark Society advocates for historic preservation in Rochester and the surrounding area of Monroe, Orleans, Wayne, Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Wyoming, Yates, and Seneca Counties. We educate residents of our area about historic resources in the region, promote community revitalization, and assist homeowners, neighborhood organizations, and municipalities in their efforts to ensure that historic properties continue to play a vital role in the future of western New York.

We advocate on behalf of individual resources, communities or neighborhoods, or larger planning issues. Whether it’s a threatened building or a proposed change to zoning codes, Landmark Society staff are here to serve as a partner with local governments, community activists, and other organizations to find practical solutions for complex planning and preservation issues. Contact us if you have a threatened resource in your community.
