As part of The Landmark Society of Western New York’s annual Jubilee celebration, we are excited to present this year’s special event: Stage & Story: At the HeART of Preservation — a refreshed take on our longtime tradition that celebrates the powerful connections between historic preservation, community, culture, and the performing arts.

This year’s celebration will take place at the RBTL West Herr Auditorium Theatre, highlighting one of The Landmark Society’s 2018 Five to Revive properties and a remarkable example of preservation in action.

Originally constructed as the Masonic Temple, the building’s cornerstone was laid in 1928 and it was dedicated in 1930. Today, it remains one of Rochester’s most distinctive examples of Art Deco architecture, featuring molded ornamental plaster walls, decorative ceiling tiles, stylized lighting, elevator doors, and other streamlined details characteristic of the era. The theatre is also home to the world-famous Wurlitzer 4/23 theatre organ, built in 1928 and relocated from the former RKO Palace Theater, preserving a significant piece of Rochester’s cultural history.

Join us on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 6–8 PM, as  guests enjoy an unforgettable evening in the newly renovated Floreano Room, featuring:

  • Live entertainment and curated experiences
  • Passed hors d’oeuvres and charcuterie displays
  • Beer and wine
  • A celebration of preservation, performance, and community

This special celebration event honors the rehabilitation of the Auditorium Theatre while bringing together supporters and friends of The Landmark Society in one of Rochester’s most iconic historic spaces.

Tickets are $65 and available by advance purchase only through May 15. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

Don’t miss this exciting new chapter of the Landmark Society’s annual celebration — a tribute to Rochester’s architectural legacy, vibrant arts community, and the enduring power of preservation.
