Room Naming Initiative

We are excited to offer naming opportunities for key rooms and spaces in Warner Castle. Honor a family member, pay tribute to someone, or just demonstrate your support for preservation and The Landmark Society. Annual giving is critical in sustaining our work and proceeds from this initiative will fuel our preservation work in the region. A portion will be placed in a board designated fund for future preservation initiatives. Name plates in the appropriate rooms will denote your support.

Built in 1854 by Horatio Gates Warner, Warner Castle is one of Rochester’s most unique buildings. The building was modeled after the ancestral castle of the Scottish Clan Douglas and is constructed of locally quarried limestone. Over the years the Castle has served several functions, housing the Rochester Civic Garden Center for an extended time. In 2018, with the building deteriorating and in need of repair, The Landmark Society partnered with Monroe County, the building’s owner, to make necessary repairs and to occupy the space as Landmark headquarters.

Landmark staff relocated to Warner Castle after rehabilitation was completed in August 2019 – just a few months before the COVID pandemic arrived. The Landmark Society holds a ten-year lease with an option to renew for an additional ten years. While Warner Castle acts as the “home base” for our preservation work in the region, our work is only  made possible through your generous support.
