St. Joseph’s Park Summer Performances

Music, Shakespeare, and Dance: we have now expanded our summer concerts to June and July! See below for event schedule.

Eastman at St. Joseph’s Park will be presenting a series of concerts starring plucked instruments. All of the musicians play different styles of music on guitars, mandolins, and lutes. It’s going to be a plucking good time! The partnership between Eastman Community Music School and The Landmark Society has brought music to the neighborhood for a number of years and experiencing music in this shell of a former church can only be described as magical.

Our new Contemporary Dance Series is being produced by Natalia Lisina and Donetta Tchoroleev. There will be 4 programs and each will have multiple dance pieces from 5-12 minutes each featuring professional and emerging local artists and with themes of nature, architecture, and the audience. Choreographers include Sarah Andreacchi, Donna Davenport, Carol Garwood, Meghan Giorgione, Natalia Lisina, Nanako Horikawa Mandrino, Carrie McVay, Elyssia Primus, Kaley Pruitt, Joanna Rodrigues, Donetta Tchoroleev, and Anne Wilcox.

If you’ve never seen Shake on the Lake perform Shakespeare, you’ve been missing a great time. If you have seen them, you know that this is an evening you don’t want to miss when they return to St. Joseph’s Park to present The Tempest on Thursday, July 24^th at 6:30 pm. Shake is a professional company out of Perry, NY and they have a unique and very accessible style of performing Shakespeare. Make sure to arrive early, not only to get a good seat, but also to catch their always enjoyable pre-show. Thanks to the Rochester Area Community Foundation, this will be a free show this summer.
