Ellwanger Open Garden Days
May 31 @ 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Ellwanger Garden is a “living museum.” Originally the private garden of famed 19th-century horticulturist George Ellwanger, it was cultivated by the Ellwanger family from 1867 to 1982. It is a historic landscape with many plantings originally placed by Mr. Ellwanger and his family. In the garden, you experience the sights and scents that delighted the Ellwanger family for 115 years.
Ellwanger Garden is open each year during the Lilac Festival (May 10th & 11th and 17th and 18th from 12pm to 3pm) and for Rose and Peony Weekend (May 31st and June 1st from 12pm to 3pm). There is no on-site parking, but parking is available next door at 685 Mt. Hope Avenue, at the UR Health and Safety Building, accessed off of McLean Street. A $5 donation per person helps us maintain this historic landscape.
