Call for volunteers: Inside Downtown Tour
This year’s Inside Downtown Tour is featuring several buildings in our former garment district along St. Paul Street. The YUPs are hosting one of our favorite local landmarks during the tour, St. Joseph’s Park. To get you in the spirit for fall we will be partnering with a yet to be named local donut and cider vendor to serve up some warm delectable delights during the tour. So get ready for St. Joe-nuts Park! Email Chris to volunteer.
Mark your calendar…
We have a lot going on this fall! Send us a message on Facebook or Instagram or email Caitlin Meives to get involved with any of these activities.
September 16: What can happen when people are granted space to engage? The YUPs are partnering with Reconnect Rochester to host PARK(ing) Day on Friday, 9/16, from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm in the surface parking lot at 101 Franklin St. We will transform this vacant downtown lot into a public space intended for the human scale. Keep an eye out for a schedule for this day of activities, art, and meaningful discussion. Contact Sara Jenks if you have questions, suggestions, or would like to volunteer at PARK(ing) Day. Visit www.parkingday.org for more information on this global event.
October 1: We’re planning a fun and fantastic event in downtown Rochester….but we can’t reveal any details just yet. Mark your calendars for late afternoon and evening–you won’t want to miss it.
October 7-9: Rust Belt Takeover in Cincinnati. We’re meeting up with fellow young preservationists from the Rust Belt Coalition of Young Preservationists. Contact us if you’re interested in caravaning there!
