Landmark longtime travel tour leader, Cindy Boyer, will be driving 11 lucky guests to join a tour group in Buffalo for an amazing day trip to see Funny Girl at the Shaw Festival in historic Niagara-on-the-Lake. Tour professional, Linda D. Pollack, has put together a wonderful itinerary that includes a director’s talk, lunch, champagne reception, and great seats. Love old buildings but don’t know a Queen Anne from a Dutch Colonial? The Landmark Society’s Young Urban Preservationists (YUPs for short) are taking you out onto the streets to explore Rochester’s architectural history in its natural setting. In this 2-hour outdoor class, we’ll walk the Upper Monroe neighborhood and learn the names of early 20th century residential architectural styles; some basic architectural terminology; and how to approximately date the buildings you see every day. Please note: This class is an active walking tour (approximately 1.5 to 2 miles on sidewalks and paved paths). Please wear appropriate clothes for the weather and walking shoes. |

Architecture on the Go is a walking tour series that invites participants to examine how architecture and landscape communicate through form, material, pattern, and spatial relationships. Moving through the built environment, participants learn to read landscapes as layered text. Drawing on his background as a trained geologist, Tyler Lucero introduces participants to the vocabulary of this visual and material language, offering tools to interpret and engage more critically with the landscapes they inhabit. Through close observation, the tour reveals how the built and natural environment together shape narratives of place. Architecture on the Go is a FREE walking tour for guests, with sites located near public parking lots or at locations with their own parking lots.
