Conference registration live!

Registration is now live for the preservation event in New York State! For the first time ever, the New York Statewide Preservation Conference is headed to Syracuse! Meet us in the Salt City March 26-28 for three days of explorations, conversations, and education.

The Conference will continue to focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion in the preservation movement, building on the concepts and conversations we started last year. Why is this important? Preservation must help tell the stories of people from all racial, ethnic, cultural, gender, and generational backgrounds. Without a diverse and inclusive movement that represents all histories and perspectives and that pushes for greater equity in our communities, we can’t be successful or relevant.

Early Bird pricing in effect through March 3rd! Book your hotel rooms now–our discounted room block expires March 6th.

New project from the YUPs

Each Valentine’s Day season for the last several years, young historic preservationist groups across the country – including Rochester’s Young Urban Preservationists (YUPs) of The Landmark Society – have participated in “heart-bombings”, posing for photos in front of under-utilized historic buildings with valentines to draw attention to the buildings’ potential through social and other media. This year, the YUPs have been working with high school students at East High to heart bomb a few under-loved buildings near the school. Showing the students how to research a property’s history and why preservation matters has been a lot fun! Click the button below to see a few images and check back next week after the YUPs and students have “heart bombed” the buildings.
