You may have heard that the 2020 NY Statewide Preservation Conference is going virtual! December 1st through December 3rd, preservationists from across New York State (and beyond) will gather on zoom to network, share new ideas, present successful projects, and discuss the challenges that our older communities face.

While we love to catch up with old friends and network with new ones at the Conference, we want to make sure everyone is safe and stays healthy. We are also excited for the new opportunities the virtual format brings. Together with our Conference partners and sponsors, we’re bringing you more speakers and more of the fun and meaningful content you crave. One of the new elements that we’re really excited about are the Lightning Round presentations that will close out the first night of the Conference.

Lightning Rounds will be a series of 10 short and fast-paced presentations. Each presentation has a strict 6-minute time limit. We want your ideas for these rapid-fire presentations!

As far as topics, anything goes (as long as it’s at least tangentially related to historic preservation, community revitalization, architecture, planning, landscape architecture, etc.). Priority will be given to proposals that present new concepts, that challenge traditional preservation methods, that focus on the history and places of traditionally under-represented communities, or that elevate new voices in preservation.

Proposals are due Friday, November 6th at 11:59 PM. Follow the link below to fill out the brief application form.
