TRACK E: Preservation Board & Commission Training
(Please Note: This session may fulfill training requirements for members of local planning and zoning boards. Please check with your municipality for details.)

Because of the popularity and value of preservation board sessions, we now offer this useful training as an annual component of the conference, with a different emphasis each year to build a comprehensive set of skills. Members of city, village and town preservation boards won’t want to miss this valuable workshop that enhances their ability to serve as an integral part of the municipal planning framework!

This year’s in-depth sessions, focused on design review and legal procedures, will help new and experienced board members alike to:

  • Effectively carry out their responsibilities as board/commission members

  • Build public support for preservation

  • Understand and implement the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards as the basis for effective design review

  • Make sound, fair, and legally appropriate decisions.
